He breathes hard. Ice coalesces around his body in a fierce armor made to protect him, yet he can feel the parts of himself already beginning to chip away at the seams.

[break][break] 'Learn to embrace it,' THEO BECKETT had ordered.

[break][break] 'Learn to control it,' Cillian Quinn had told him.

[break][break] 'You let it happen anyway,' he had blamed Elisabeth Fiorelli in that feverish night, no able to see anything or anyone, besides that of his own mortality.

[break][break] And now, standing here, beside bryan delarosa as the other avatar sought to heal each crevice that CHIEN PAO attempted to tear apart, Jayden finally understood what his mentors had meant. The POWER that he sought after, and the unyielding tide of hatred that fueled it.

[break][break] His violet eyes transformed into hues of ice-blue, the snow beneath him stained crimson with blood. Shadows approached in the distance, reminscent of the shattered metal forms in the snow beneath them.

Go. Go. GO.

[break][break] He wanted to stop. He couldn't stop.

[break][break] This was an exercise in caution. This was an excercise in violence.

[break][break] In the last several weeks that he had spent by bryan delarosa's side, Jayden had been cursed with the same ailments as the previous avatar. Vengeance. Hatred. Resentment. All of it burned with him, coiled like a spring ready to be sprung —

[break][break] And it was all because bryan delarosa had caused this.

[break][break] Even without Xerneas by his side, without someone to heal what had been broken, there was no stopping him. No stopping this.

[break][break] Blood burned in his palms as he sprinted forwards against the parade of paradox beast, swinging with reckless abandon. Even with each slice against his skin, each pulse of HATRED that propelled him forward, he did not stop. Again. Again. Again. He continued, a relentless barrage of attacks until there was nothing but tens of dead pokemon littered at his feet.

[break][break] The HELPING HAND propped him up, throat swollen with the rage of his abilities. His body was scarred with THEO BECKETT's training, his body stripped into piece of fabric.

Bryan watched with a weird sense of...jealousy? He missed that life, it was ripped away, not needing to fear anything. Now he needed to be careful again, tactful, strategic. He had full intentions of getting his abilities back one way or another whether Xerneas complied or not. Who was he to deny Bryan what he EARNED? [break][break]

For now, Jayden was a piece of that plan. One that needed to be refined over and over again with his beat downs. "Audino, Heal pulse." he orders as the Pokémon complies with his orders. She was happy to be called upon again but it wondered how much of it was Bryan or the lack of his abilities now. [break][break]

"You're a weapon, keep going." he says as suddenly one of the beasts sneaks up on Bryan and catches him off guard and he panics. Out of old habits he almost didn't dodge, he barely moves out of the way in time, a paradox suicuine biting his leg and causing him to bleed. His leg doesn't heal and he panics "AUDINO!" he yells as it uses psychic to lift the pokemon up and throws it towards jayden cross

It is not the same, but it is enough.

[break][break] Pink light bubbles over his wounds, stitching them back together in the way that they are meant to be. They are not as perfect as XERNEAS would make it, but enough for the Cursed to feel the stirrings of resentment curdle in his throat.

[break][break] How dare Xerneas take this from them? From Bryan? Not even Gods had that right. Not even Gods could take away what they had forged away in the years of their bond, of their time in Rocket together.

[break][break] "You're right," he growls, the HATRED bleeding through. "I am a weapon. Your weapon. Rocket's weapon."

[break][break] And as his friend lets out a howl of pain, Jayden can barely hear it over the outrage that crashes through him like a torrential sea. In his palm grows a KNIFE, slate-silver yet coated with formidable ice, before it plunges into the fleshy center of the Suicune's heart.

[break][break] The roar that the strange pokemon releases is guttural, combined with a sudden BREAKING SWIPE that throws the Ruinous avatar on the floor with a sickening crack as the Paradox Pokemon takes it's exit.

"FUCK" he screams as he grabs his leg in pain as his Audino immediately begins to tend to the wound. His Melmetal tries to provide further coverage using his massive body to shield bryan from further harm. [break][break]

Jayden swiftly dispatches the creature with blazing speed and strength. Melmetal's body dissipates back to it's regular form to reveal Bryan's blood still pooling on the floor. [break][break]

He groans as Audino tends to his wounds. "Fuck." he growls annoyed at this entire situation. "Good work. I'm gonna be fine." he tells Jayden before the man even asks about it himself. His audino coo's sadly at the wound and patted him saying he was all good to go as she stands up.

He won't feel it until later. He won't notice it until later.

[break][break] In his frenzied state, as the Paradox pokemon vanishes in into the icy tundra, all Jayden can feel is the vitriol that courses through his veins, super-charging him into a heightened state. Part of him wishes to follow, part of him needs to chase the thrill that courses through his veins whenever his swords plunge into flesh or blood spills into snow.

[break][break] But there is one thing that anchors him here. It is ear-splitting scream from his friend as he nurses his own wounds, and Jayden turns, numbly, to the sight of him.

[break][break] Something like disgust glimpses in the Admin's eyes as he watches his friend, broken and crumpled, on the floor. He pushes himself to his feet, not quite realizing that his own arm lays in such a state. Blood stains his right arm, a mangled corpse of uselessness at his side.

[break][break] "Fine?" he echoes, staring hard at the other. "How are you fine?"

[break][break] "You're broken, Bryan."

He sucks on his teeth and activates audino's keystone to give her an extra boost in strength. "Heal him, he's worse off than me." he orders as Audino's mega energy flows into Jayden to try and tend to his scrapes, bruises, and cuts. [break][break]

"And stop fucking reminding me. The pain is enough of a reminder." [break][break]

He was broken, an addict in rehab. Death was once but a fleeting memory, but now with Xerneas gone. The bitter coldness nipped at his skin every time he was injured, his senses couldn't tell if that was just how pain was supposed to be or if jayden cross was just waiting for the right moment to strike at him for his failures. [break][break]

As he looks at Jayden he couldn't help but wonder if the pit growing in his stomach was what Xerneas had felt when looking at bryan.

He blinks.

[break][break] Surprise flickered in the Admin's expression as the MEGA ENERGY flowed through him, and it took him a moment to realize that he was in a similar state as the Beast. It was only a minute later that he realized that his arm had been destroyed in the fight.

[break][break] He hadn't realized.

[break][break] Jayden blinked, reminded of the conversation that he'd shared with Elisabeth Fiorelli several weeks prior. How she had asked him how he had felt after the Battle of Dewford, how long it had taken him to recover. More importantly, how he had not been able to remember how he felt because Bryan had always been there for him.

[break][break] "Stop wallowing in pity," he reminded, his voice coming out like frostbite. Then his expression softened, offering a hand to his friend for him to stand. "We will heal you."

[break][break] "You were there for me when I needed it."

[break][break] "Don't you deserve the same?"

[break][break] His heart burned with HATRED for the God that had abandoned him. Abandoned them.
